Choosing the Right SOA Platform for System z
Complementary Analyst White Paper
Many IBM System z users are actively looking to drive greater returns from their mainframe investments through the use
of SOA. While some z users effectively turn the mainframe into a service-provider, many others assign System z the lead role
in running SOA-based applications. Many companies interested in SOA started to adopt Linux as part of their IT strategy.
System z is no exception - IBM offers Linux on System z as a way of providing the same environment on the mainframe,
so mainframe users are also faced with this choice for their new SOA workloads. This key decision is often made without all
relevant information, however, as this decision has major implications, it is important that the mainframe users consider
all the facts. This paper looks at the factors to consider in order to make a balanced judgement, based on relevant importance
of these factors to the enterprise.
