Partnering on smart water management
IBM, the King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia and the University of Texas
are collaborating to help utilities, governments and businesses manage their water usage. They have co-developed
a new membrane for water purification and are also working on sensor and intelligence networks with smart

Survey shows U.S. college students want technology skills
A survey of more than 1,600 college students conducted by IBM and Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY reveals that more than
50 percent are seeking to improve their own technology skills before they graduate. Eight in 10 expect to encounter
new technology that they will need to learn, adapt to and master once they enter the workforce. |

Carnegie Mellon SEI launches Smart Grid Framework
The Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute will assume primary responsibility for the ongoing governance, growth
and
evolution of the Smart Grid Maturity Model. Initially developed by IBM with the cooperation of the Global Intelligent Utility
Network
Coalition and the American Productivity & Quality Center, the modeling tool offers observable indicators to measure
progress
and aid the development of smart grid programs, which are important for coping with today's energy concerns. |

UAlbany NanoCollege to develop new technology for 22nm chips
In collaboration with IBM and Applied Materials, Inc., the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering of the University
at
Albany, NY announced an agreement to jointly develop process modeling technology for manufacturing 22 nanometer (nm) logic
and memory chips. This project and partnership will accelerate the integration of advanced processing and innovative
nanoelectronics research and development. |
