The IBM Academic Initiative is celebrating its fifth anniversary with lots of improvements for YOU.
For starters, we've redesigned and simplified our site navigation, reorganized our content, and now offer you the option
to explore
our resources based on the topics you teach. We've updated our guides that map IBM technologies and courseware to ACM-recommended
curricula and to innovative concepts for building a smarter planet. And because it is all about teaching, we've added over

Teach Business Process Management (BPM) with INNOV8 V2.0
This "serious" simulation game gives both information technology and business students an excellent introduction
to BPM,
from learning the anatomy of a model, to optimizing the model and making a company more profitable.
Faculty from more than 1,000 universities have downloaded the game, and more than 100 schools worldwide
have built INNOV8 curriculum. |

Universities in 40 countries collaborate to build a smarter planet
Nearly 2,000 participants from more than 200 universities from 40 countries around the world took part in an online forum,
called a
"jam". The results are encouraging. They show that students all over the globe are eagerly seeking opportunities
to work together to create a Smarter Planet. |

Enhanced Student Portal offers exciting resources
Based on feedback from a recent student survey, we've enhanced the IBM Student Portal. We've improved our learning
roadmaps and added introductory videos, tutorials, articles and demos from developerWorks about some of the hottest skills,
such as Web 2.0, mashups and
database technologies. New community resources connect students with their like-minded peers, professors, and industry
experts. Students can also learn about and prepare for professional certifications.

College and high school students who are looking for a challenge can take charge of a world-class system in
this hands-on "big iron" contest. No experience necessary. Prizes include T-shirts, prepaid debit cards,

New tool to simplify Web 2.0 application development
Enterprise Generation Language (EGL) is IBM's newest business language. EGL for Everyone is a new, free, Eclipse-based
tool that
uses EGL to simplify development of JavaScript and Ajax-based Web 2.0 applications. When you code your applications in EGL,
you
can avoid the complexities of scripting languages and focus on more productive parts of the design and development process. |
